Sam Mensah, M.A., MBA, PhD, Executive Chairman
Dr. Sam Mensah is a Senior Consultant of SEM International Associates Limited and CEO for SEM Group.
He is a Financial Economist and a Certified Management Accountant (Society of Management Accountants of Canada)
with previous experience as an Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of Michigan.
He holds an MBA AND Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Toronto and an M.A. in Economics from the University
of Ottawa.
He has consulted extensively for Ghanaian firms and international clients including the Ghana Stock Exchange,
Newmont Ghana Gold Limited, USAID, the Commonwealth Secretariat, the World Bank and the Canadian International
Development Agency. His areas of consulting include financial management, strategic planning, corporate restructuring,
financial analysis, forensic and management audits, economic policy, financial and public sector development,
project finance, institutional assessment, project monitoring and evaluation among others.
He has directed several major projects including the Domestic Debt Restructuring Project,
the Government –Sponsored Venture Capital Scheme and the Financial Sector Strategic Plan.
He has also been actively involved in private sector development projects including developing
the policy and action plan of the Ministry for Private Sector Development.
He has recently been appointed the Executive Chairman of SEM CAPITAL MANAGEMENT Ltd,
and also serves on the Boards of Camelot (GH) Ltd, the HFC Bank, and Express Savings and Loans Ltd,
and currently an Advisor to the Government of Ghana at the Ministry of Finance.
Ebenezer A. Barnes, B.Sc, MBA, Technical Advisor
Ebenezer A. Barnes is the Technical Advisor for SEM CAPITAL Management Limited.
His areas of consulting include institutional assessments, project finance, strategic planning,
economic research, project monitoring and evaluation, corporate finance etc. He has directed
several consulting projects including the design of a monitoring and evaluation framework for
the National Medium-Term Private Sector Development Strategy (PSDS), IFC MSME Access to Finance
Assessment among others. He holds an MBA with concentration in Finance and Accounting from the
University of Rochester, New York. He also holds a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering
from the University of Science and Technology, Kumasi. He has worked on several strategic review
and business plan assignments and has assisted many corporate clients to develop and implement
turnaround/restructuring plans. Among the companies he has worked with the General Leasing & Finance Company Limited,
Eximguaranty Ghana Limited, Camelot Ghana Limited, Ghana Agro-Food Company Limited etc.
He has been a lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School Executive MBA programme and also
at the Ghana Stock Exchange school for several years.
Leopold Jack William Kofi Bray, Bsc (Chemical Engr.), MBA, General Manger
Leopold J.W.K. Bray is the General Manager of
SEM Capital Management Limited. He has worked extensively in Industry
including the Brewery Giant, Guinness Ghana Breweries Ltd, GIHOC
Paints Co. Ltd, etc, and has had several years of experience as
a consultant with Prime Training and Development Consultants,
Accra. He has been involved in training staff and Management of
several Institutions in Management Supervisory skills, Investments,
Project Management and Corporate Finance. These institutions include
the Bank of Ghana, Electricity Company of Ghana, Ghana Textile
Printing, GTP, Juapong Textiles, the Commission on Human Rights and
Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Parliament, Judiciary Service etc.
He is a local tutor for the University of Leicester school of Management
in both the MBA and MSC (Finance) programmes, and lectures at the Ghana
Stock Exchange School for students seeking the professional Ghana Securities Industry
Certificate. He holds a BSC (Chem.) Eng. Degree from the University of Science and Technology,
Kumasi, Certificate in project Analysis from the prestigious Arthur D. Little, Mass,
Ghana Securities Industry Certificate, and an MBA from the school of Management,
University of Leicester, UK, with specialization in Corporate and International Finance.
He has recently been appointed a Director of SEM Capital Management Limited.
Kwadwo Acheampong, B.Sc., MBA, Research and Portfolio Manger
Kwadwo Acheampong is the Research and Portfolio Manager for SEM Capital Management limited.
He has experience in investment management, management consulting, operations management and process
improvement. His expertise includes financial analysis, financial risk management and portfolio management.
He holds a BSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana
and an MBA (Finance) from Thunderbird, the Garvin School of Global Management in Glendale, Arizona.
He previously worked with Price Waterhouse Associates, Accra, Athena Foods Limited Tema,
Vlisco Ghana’s Juapong Textiles and Avon, Atlanta, Georgia.
